Standard Chartered, a leading international banking group, with a presence in 59 of the world’s most dynamic markets is proud to announce the launch of its Women in Tech (WiT) Incubator South Africa. WiT is part of the bank’s commitment to fostering gender equality and driving innovation in the rapidly evolving technological landscape, aimed at empowering and supporting women entrepreneurs in the technology sector.
Standard Chartered has partnered with WomHub on this initiative to provide a platform for aspiring women entrepreneurs in South African STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing) industries, developing their innovative tech-based business ideas and accelerating their growth. The programme will also offer a comprehensive range of resources, including mentorship, training, networking opportunities, access to funding, and a supportive community of like-minded individuals. Through a comprehensive curriculum the initiative aims to cultivate a supportive ecosystem that enables
women to thrive and overcome barriers that hold them back.

The application process will include a meticulous evaluation and selection process conducted by a panel of experts from Standard Chartered Bank and the local tech industry. Successful participants will undergo a 12-week hands-on training, mentorship, and guidance from industry experts. They will also have the opportunity to network with potential investors and partners to help them secure funding and scale their businesses.

Who should apply?
- Applicants must identify as women and serve as founders or co-founders of a Tech business/enterprise.
- Applicants must be over the age of 18. There is no upper age limit.
- Individual applicants must be citizens of South Africa. For teams of two or more, the main applicant must be a citizen of South Africa.
- The innovation or business/enterprise must be based and registered in South Africa.
- Applicants’ business must be in the Technology industry, although are not required to be Tech graduate or student themselves.
- The applicant’s business can be any new or innovative product, technology, or service in the Tech sector.
- Applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of programme.
