What is an Accelerator?
A business accelerator is a programme that gives developing businesses access to mentorship, investors and other support that helps them become stable, self-sufficient businesses. At WomHub, our Economic Growth Accelerator supports businesses to accelerate growth through leadership and intensive entrepreneurial support.
What is the programme duration?
The Economic Growth Accelerator programme commences on 28th September 2022 and the programme will run through until August 2023.
I am an entrepreneur interested in the accelerator, but I do not know if my business is eligible under the SMME or Venture track. How do I know this?
The SMME Track focuses on steady growth companies, in established STEM markets. It is an opportunity to support the growth of the company, unlock its potential and hire more people within its growth trajectory.
The Venture Track is designed for women founders of potential high growth ventures. It is designed for early-stage founders who already have a prototype or product and are looking to scale with venture support.
Do I need to be South African to qualify?
Yes, the programme is focused on South African women entrepreneurs.
How long must the company be operating to be considered?
The duration of the company's operation is not being considered i.e., there is no limitation.
Do I need to be an entrepreneur in a specific business sector to apply?
No. We are inviting all passionate South African women entrepreneurs and business owners. We are interested in entrepreneurs with businesses in STEM.
How will my business’ progress be monitored and measured?
The programme provides two (2) to five (5) hours of virtual support a month tailored to the founders business needs. We will also require business progress reports on in month six (6) and nine (9) of the programme to assess business development.
How long does the development period take?
SMMEs and Start-ups within the Economic Growth Accelerator programme will undergo a 12-month period of development.
